Have you ever felt the need for a guide to show you which way to go? "The Night Guide" is my surreal vision of being shown the pathway through the dark night by the deer guide, his antlers lit up with candles. When we were recently travelling in Borneo, Malaysia we had the wonderful experience of a small boat ride on a secluded river at night to see the fireflies! The were so magical to see, their lights flickering in the bushes near the river’s edge. I knew they would feature in a painting very soon! So they’re tiny guides in this painting, coming out of the forest to also be guides flying around the deer and into the light.
